   IC INBOX: THE JORMUN

After the islanders' assistance with a rather harrowing event in January 2017, the Jormun returned to the ocean depths - but not without leaving behind a Schovskal through which their allies might contact them. The Schovskal is a large conch shell; standing at five feet high and seven feet long, this mammoth of a shell is set on Islet 4 and can be used to call the Jormun for trading or to assist with sea explorations.

The Jormun are also happy to discuss current islands characters may be exploring and will do their best to offer their assistance where they may, so feel free to blow that horn and wait for a Jormun to visit you from below!

We ran into some trouble, on another island. The people that live there . . . they're not as agreeable as you. We have to break our people out, but that necessitates sailing back or risking the mana pool and I -

[He's pretty sure this Jormun has gone with him on a trip before? It's hard to tell - they look so different from humans he has a hard time keeping them straight since he sees them so infrequently. Either way, it's not exactly a secret that sometimes he idly sails around and calls the Jormun to hang out.]

You know I'm not bad at sailing, but I'm not used to the kind of boat I need to sail back and I've never sailed to that island before. I don't want to ask you to fight, but I do need to ask you to help me get the boat back safely.

[Not a secret-- and also a form of reward for accomplishments down below. After Munin's initial smoking of the peace pipe, so to speak, many had understood Connor to be quite the agreeable land dweller, very...uh, agreeable indeed.]

Hm. It is troubling that your companions have been trapped in such a way. It is not my decision, but Munin will certainly agree to send some of our people to assist your people with the boat.

[The whiskers on the side of the Jormun's face twitch rapidly, glancing down into the water.]

I shall go immediately to report. You will have our answer before the sun sets.

I'll be waiting - well, actually I'm gonna go back onto the islet over there and light up if anyone wants to join me, but I'll be waiting in this general area.

[Like, Munin probably won't send them all, he figures? So if some of his friends wanna come get stoned, that's a thing he can also offer.]

[Munin absolutely won't send them all, but the visible brightening of the Jormun's features before they dive back down into the ocean's depths promises more than one companion eager to participate in some dope activity.

Connor why do you make me type these things what have I ever done to you.]

[It takes three-quarters of an hour for the Jormun to resurface once more, announcing themselves by flipping out of the water and landing on the shoreline, some stumbling as multiple webbed feet fail to catch against the dry sand. Others still take their time, swimming into the shallows but going no further.

Looks like Connor's about to make some friends.]

Munin sends her greetings to you, Connor! [The Jormun from before booms, gracelessly flopping down onto the sand beside him.] We Jormun will assist you in navigating the seas; you will take my Schovskala and call us when you are ready.

[I'd just like to point out that this is all happening because Zero told me to get Munin high, so really if we're gonna blame anybody, it should be Zero.

Anyway Connor takes a second to notice he Jormun resurfacing because he's kinda pleasantly high and not even remotely paying attention, but he waves once they call out. Then he fishes two joints and his lighter from the pocket of his jacket. God bless the Storyteller for his lighter, honestly.]

Heyyy. Do you want some? [He waves the joints around.] I only have these because I'm uh. [What's the word?] Curing the rest of the shit I got from my neighbor.

To his credit, the Jormun positively light up (hurr) at his offering, webbed fingers reaching for the offered joints and lighter to... light up.]

You are most kind, land-dweller. [And all at once, the area around him is bustling with activity, Jormun gathering close to settle down upon the sand, until not a one remains standing. See, Connor? They're learning.

Learning, in this instance, meaning that they've had more than one situation leading to realizations that whatever Connor is giving them doesn't equate to fantastic Jormun motor skills.]
